Who
Preston’s most iconic grassroots music venue, The Mad Ferret, was ready for a rebrand. A place where sweat drips from the ceiling and the music is loud enough to rattle your ribs, it needed an identity that matched its raw, no-frills energy. The new name—The Ferret—stripped things back to what really matters: live music, done properly.

What
We created a brand that’s as loud and unapologetic as the venue itself. At its core is a bespoke, hand-drawn, cinema marquee-style typeface—deliberately imperfect, full of attitude, and impossible to ignore. The design language takes cues from protest posters, DIY gig flyers, and the kind of rebellious, grassroots movements that push back against the slick, soulless world of streaming culture.

Collage, rough textures, and anarchic typography bring the venue’s independent spirit to life, championing the raw, unfiltered experience of live music. It’s a celebration of sweat, sound, and standing shoulder to shoulder in a room where the music matters more than the algorithms.
